Assessments
This video demonstrates how to create an assessment in Moodle. It uses questions from the Question Bank. If you don't have access to the Question Bank contact your ITRT.
Moodle Question Types
These images show the different question types available in Moodle. There are many question types to choose from for your assessment. Below are videos on making the question types that are seen most often on standard assessments included TEI question types. I have also included a description of each question type to help guide you in choosing the best question type.
Now let's go over some of the question types.
- Multiple Choice
This is your standard multiple choice that will give partial credit if you have multiple right answers. - True/False
Simple multiple choice with 2 choices. - Short Answer
Allows for a word or phrase answer. You can give multiple choices that are acceptable. However the student will need to made one of the choices exactly to get credit. However if another answer is given that you wish to count correct you can always go in and override the score. This type of answer is good for questions with a specific answer. - Short Answer
This type of question allows for more than a work or phase. It is best graded manually. - Essay
This type of question would need to be graded manually and is designed for lengthy responses. - Matching
Word or objects can be matched. You can have more responses than questions. Here is an example of a matching problem that has an uneven number of choices. There are 4 diagrams to match the shaded region. You can see from the drop down list that there are 6 choices. - All or Nothing Multiple Choice
This is another multiple choice option. However if operates more like the SOL test in that if they don't get all of the correct answers they will not get any credit. - Drag and Drop
There are several options for drag and drop. You can have items to be dropped in an image or text. The items to be dropped can be either images of text. Below are screen shots of using an image to drop text or images into. - Ordering
Putting jumbled items into meaningful order. When doing this question to get it right you can select exact position or relative position options. - Description
This isn't a question, but rather information you want to present to the student. This is where you would put reading passages if you were making an English test.
